Playing the role of Jesus would be a challenge for any actor.But
Hollywood star Michael Sheen has taken the role one step further with
an extraordinary 72-hour performance, during which he stayed in
character for the entire time.
And
even at the end of the marathon performance, there was no rest for Mr
Sheen - the climax of the play saw the ambitious actor 'nailed' to a

THE image of a figure emerging from the waters of
Aberavon Beach marked the beginning of a three-day spectacle starring
the local boy who became a Hollywood superstar.
More than 1,000 people turned out yesterday as The Passion featuring Michael Sheen got under way at a number of venues across Port Talbot.
The thrilling event, which will feature Manic Street Preachers
among other well-known names, officially began yesterday afternoon with

AFTER months of anticipation, Hollywood actor Michael Sheen launched
his homecoming epic in Port Talbot yesterday – and more than 6,000
people turned out to support him.
From early in the day, they started gathering on Aberavon seafront
for the opening of his community drama, The Passion, which is being
staged for 72 hours non-stop during this Easter weekend.
And by the time the production opened at 3pm, the promenade was
packed as people jostled to see the action unfold on the beach below.

STUDENTS from Swansea will be enjoying a taste of Hollywood-style film- making during Michael Sheen's epic production of The Passion.
Michael, an honorary fellow of Swansea Me University, is bringing the three-day spectacular to his home town of Port Talbot, starting today and concluding on the night of Easter Sunday.
Tickets are sold out, but National Theatre Wales, which is
staging the event, is encouraging residents to go along to enjoy all the
action.
Students from the university will be working with one of several
camera teams that will be simultaneously filming the action for a film
version directed by cult artist Dave Mckean for Welsh production company Rondo. Read the rest here

Sheen said it was a "privilege and honour" to work in his home town of Port Talbot
A
play directed by Michael Sheen to be performed on the streets, beaches
and hills of Port Talbot at Easter is also to become a film.
The Hollywood actor is drafting in hundreds of locals for the Port Talbot Passion.
It is inspired by the the biblical Passion Play but none of the scenes are in a traditional theatre.
The Film Agency for Wales has awarded £125,000 from £425,000 to create a film out of

The Welsh actor’s theatrical epic, The Passion, runs over the Easter weekend at locations across Port Talbot.

THE artistic director of National Theatre Wales has said Michael
Sheen’s epic play to be performed over Easter weekend will be a
“marathon” piece of acting.
In an interview with the Western Mail, John McGrath, pictured, said
72-hour epic The Passion in Port Talbot would be the biggest project the
company had done.
Based across Sheen’s home town of Port Talbot, it is the final production in the first-year programme of National Theatre Wales.
